I was expecting a comprehensive account, much like a guidebook for the Appalachian trail and others.
On the other hand, this book is an account of the experience at Philmont, and as such would be useful.

Topics include getting ready to go to Philmont, basic camping skills, bear procedures, cooking and cleanup, water purification, first aid and emergencies, and group dynamics.
